Fable 5 credit planner
Since July 20, 2026, Pro and Team Standard no longer include Fable 5. You got a one-time $100 credit, then API rates. This works out how far that goes.
The change, in one paragraph
As of July 20, 2026, Max and Team Premium include Fable 5 permanently, capped at 50% of the weekly quota. Pro and Team Standard were moved off it and given a one-time $100 credit; after that, Fable 5 is billed at API rates — $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output. That makes the credit easy to size: a session using 50,000 input tokens and 10,000 output tokens costs about $1.00, so $100 is on the order of a hundred sessions of that shape. Heavier sessions burn it in a couple of weeks. Opus 5 is the strongest model still included on Pro, and the default on Max.

Verdict
Your volume is past what a seat-based plan is built for. Direct API billing with cached reads at $1 per million and the Batch API at $5 and $25 will usually beat any plan.
What this planner does not know
It does not know the price of any subscription tier — we only publish numbers we have verified, and plan pricing is not in that set, so the upgrade verdict is about predictability rather than a dollar comparison. It does not know what 50% of a weekly quota works out to in tokens, because Anthropic expresses that cap as a share of quota, not a token count. It does not know your real usage per session; the estimate is only as good as the number you type, and Anthropic's count_tokens endpoint is how you replace a guess with a measurement. It does not model safeguard fallbacks, which are billed and answered by Opus 4.8.
Before you upgrade, cut the burn
Caching a stable system prompt bills those input tokens at $1 instead of $10 per million, the Batch API halves anything that can wait, and dropping effort one notch on routine work cuts output volume — the largest line on a Fable 5 invoice.
