Is Claude Fable 5 included in Claude Max?
Plan inclusion changed again on July 20, 2026. Here is which seats get Fable 5 inside the weekly limit — and which seats need usage credits from the first request.
Short answer
Yes on Max and Team Premium: as of July 20, 2026, Fable 5 is permanently included for up to 50% of weekly usage limits — but since July 24 the default model on Max is Opus 5, so Fable 5 has to be selected deliberately. Pro and Team Standard typically use usage credits. API calls always bill at $10/$50 per million tokens — subscription inclusion does not pay the API invoice.

Max (5x / 20x)
Fable 5 is included as a standard part of the plan for up to 50% of weekly usage limits. Opus 5 has been the plan default since July 24, 2026, so pick Fable 5 in the model picker. After that share, continue with usage credits or switch models.
Team Premium seats
Same permanent inclusion rule as Max: up to 50% of the seat’s weekly pool for Fable 5, then org policy + credits for overage.
Pro
Fable 5 generally runs on pay-as-you-go usage credits rather than the included weekly pool. Enable credits and set a spend cap before long agent runs.
Team Standard seats
Usage credits from the first Fable request in most cases. Organization owners control whether credits are enabled and capped.
Claude API / Bedrock / OpenRouter
Not covered by Max/Pro inclusion. Metered at API rates (or provider markup). See the pricing calculator and channel guides.
Usage credits vs the 50% pool
The 50% rule is a share of your weekly plan pool, not unlimited Fable. When the Fable share is exhausted — or when your seat never had inclusion — usage credits bill at API rates. Estimate the job before you start.
